About Journal
Aims and Scope

Advances in Geo-Energy Research (ISSN: 2207-9963; eISSN: 2208-598X; CODEN: AGRDC4) aims to publish high quality papers rapidly in the fields of natural geo-energy (oil, gas, coal geothermal, and gas hydrate), and focuses on combining theoretical, numerical and experimental approaches to the fundamental scientific advances in geo-energy systems.

Advances in Geo-Energy Research is an interdisciplinary and international periodical devoted to promote the interaction and multidisciplinary collaboration among scientific groups from different countries and regions, and both industry and academia. The scope of the journal is to provide an academic medium to researchers who are actively involved in one or more of the fields of geo-energy systems.

Advances in Geo-Energy Research is a monthly open access journal and free to read for all. It accepts original research articles, reviews, and rapid communications in the following domains of engineering, science and technology (but not limited to):

  •     (1) Geo-energy exploration, development and production
  •     (2) Heat and mass transfer in underground reservoirs
  •     (3) Unconventional oil and gas geology and engineering integration
  •     (4) New methods and techniques enhancing geo-energy recovery
  •     (5) Major theoretical progress and case studies of geo-energy

All submitted manuscripts will be blind reviewed and the accepted papers are published quarterly from 2017 to 2021. In 2022, the accepted papers are published bimonthly. In 2023, the accepted papers are published monthly, where it remains today.

Peer Review Process

This journal follows a single blind peer review workflow using the online review system.

Once a manuscript is submitted, it will be checked by the journal’s editorial office to ensure the files are complete and that the relevant metadata are in order. Then, the Editor-in-Chief performs an initial assessment before inviting a number of potential reviewers to provide a peer-review report. Editor-in-Chief is entitled to reject a manuscript which is deemed to be unsuitable before reviewing. After that, the manuscript is assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers on the basis of their subject expertise. In the full peer review process, the identities of reviewers are keeping anonymous to the authors.

Under the guidance of the reviewers’ decisions, Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles.

Publication Frequency

All submitted manuscripts will be blind reviewed and the accepted papers are published quarterly from 2017 to 2021. In 2022, the accepted papers are published bimonthly. In 2023, the accepted papers are published monthly, where it remains today.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

For this open access journal, all published articles are made immediately and permanently free for everyone to read and download under an open access license. Permitted third party (re)use is defined by the following Creative Commons user licenses (CC BY-NC-ND). Under this license, everyone has free and unlimited access to the full-text of the published articles, and is free to re-use the published material under these terms: by giving credit to the author, providing the citation of the original publication, not using for commercial purposes and not distributing the article if you have modified it.

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.
