Aims and Scope

Health Care Science is a high-quality, peer-reviewed, open access journal, which aims to provide a platform for the researchers, scholars, administrators, and innovators to share their research in the quality, evaluation, and technology of healthcare service delivery, healthcare management, and healthcare policy on a scientific basis.

We promote and disseminate high-quality Original Articles, Reviews, Short Communications, Case Reports, Commentaries, News and Views, Editorials-Invited only and Practices and Policies. 

The preference will be given to the articles based on quantitative methods, with emphasis on specific healthcare settings, have impact on real-world operation and policy making, and about emerging hot topics in healthcare. 

Academic Sections

1. Policy, standard, and ethics
This section includes policy interpretation, expert opinions, and letters on policies, standards, and ethical considerations in healthcare setting, especially in the fast-developing frontiers of medical applications.

2. Healthcare evaluation
This section covers the evaluation of the quality, safety, performance, efficiency, and optimization in the health system (including hospitals, medical personnels, health services).

3. Health economics
This section includes research using health economics methods to evaluate and compare medical resource planning, allocation, and other topics in health spending, insurance and coverage.

4. Major diseases and public health
This section highlights the public health prevention, responsiveness, and management of major diseases such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, mental illness, and emerging outbreaks.

5. Medical devices and equipment
This section mainly covers new development in medical applications in the form of new devices and equipment. Regulations, ethical challenges, surveillance and monitoring schemes will be discussed.

6. Medication use
This section pertains to medication use from prescribing, ordering, dispensing, administration, to monitoring. Related topics such as drug-resistance situations will also be included.

7. Management of medical technology application
This section involves the discussion of regulation, legislation, ethical considerations and other management aspects of medical technology and clinical applications.

8. Data science and health informatics
This section focuses on the application of quantitative methods of data science and health informatics to discover, solve, improve problems in healthcare management. Topics of interests include real-world big data, artificial intelligence, telemedicine, 5G application, data and information security.

9. Healthcare management in LMIC countries
This section covers research and opinions in countries with limited resources in medical care and health system.

Society Information

Founded in May 2012, Institute for Hospital Management of Tsinghua University (IHM) is dedicated to excellence of teaching and research in Health Policy and Management. It is part of the faculty in School of Medicine, with operations in Beijing as well as in International Graduate School at Shenzhen. In collaboration with the School of Economics and Management, School of Public Policy and Management, School of Law, and the Engineering faculties within Tsinghua University, it is a truly a cross-disciplinary academic institution in Tsinghua which represents a new chapter in the journey of health care management education in China.
