Call for Papers: Single Cell Analysis

Submission deadline: Saturday, 30 September 2023

New technologies and instruments have been one primary driver of microbial sciences and industries. A single cell is the unit of function and evolution for life on Earth. Therefore, the ability to analyze, manipulate and construct phenomes and genomes, at single-cell resolution, is fundamental to thorough dissection and rational design of microbial systems, thus promises to transform life science, medicine, and biotechnology. This special issue will focus on the latest advances in scientific discovery, methods, instrumentation and industrial application of single-cell technologies.

Topics for this call for papers include but not restricted to:

  • Method development in microbial single-cell technologies (imaging, sorting, culture, omics, algorithms, databases, etc)
  • Microbiome structure and function via single-cell technologies
  • Microbial cell factory mining and engineering via single-cell technologies
  • Microbial enzyme mining and engineering via single-cell technologies
  • Microbial metabolism sensing and process control via single-cell technologies
  • Clinical applications of microbial single-cell technologies
  • Environmental applications of microbial single-cell technologies
