Fuzzy Information and Engineering (ISSN 1616-8658,e-ISSN 1616-8666,Quarterly), started in 2009, is now published quarterly by Tsinghua University Press, aiming at being an international, double-blind peer-reviewed, Open Access and interdisciplinary journal. The journal publishes researches on pure and applied mathematics, computer sciences, engineering, and related fields.

The journal has been indexed in multiple databases including ESCI, Scopus, DOAJ, etc. With the efforts of the editorial board and the support from the authors, the academic impact gradually increases. In Clarivate's Journal Citation Reports 2023, the journal's impact factor rises to 1.3, ranking Q2 in the Mathematics, Applied category. In Scopus, the journal's CiteScore rises to 2.3, ranking Q2 in the Mathematics, Logic category.

Aiming at promoting academic communication, accelerating the high-quality development of journals, and building an academic exchange platform for young scientists, the journal has decided to recruit approximately 30 youth area editors globally.

Requirements

  • Applicants should have a fuzzy-related academic background that aligns with the journal's scope, specializing in fuzzy information and engineering research, with doctoral degree and professorship title required. Those who have published highly-cited academic papers in authoritative domestic and international journals as the first author or corresponding author, or have received scientific and technological awards in this research field, may be considered with appropriate relaxation of conditions.
  • Applicants with rigorous academic attitudes, strict adherence to academic ethics, and no record of academic misconduct are preferred. Additionally, young scholars, who have contributed to the pertinent endeavors of this journal, will be granted preferential access.
  • Applicants shall demonstrate enthusiasm for the journal progression and a willingness to participate in activities such as reviewing, writing, commissioning papers, and promoting the journal.
  • The age limit is principled to be no more than 45 years old, but exceptional candidates with outstanding qualifications may be given age relaxation.

Duties

  • Commissioning: Actively write and solicit high-quality contributions. During the term, applicants are expected to either write 2 articles (as the first author or corresponding author) for the journal, recommend 4 high-quality articles, or organize and complete 1 topical collection.
  • Editorial: Undertake peer review responsibilities, completing reviews promptly and to a high standard. Actively participate in journal discipline editorial work meetings, and assist the journal in hosting or co-hosting relevant academic conferences.
  • Journal Promotion: Promote and introduce the journal through major academic conferences both domestically and internationally, or through other channels. Assist in writing or actively provide news articles for publication.

Based on the journal's development needs, recruitment criteria, and the academic backgrounds of applicants, the editorial department will select the young editorial board members through a combination of self-nomination, initial review by the editorial department, and final review by an expert panel. The list of selected young editorial board members will be announced on the THU Information Science Journals official WeChat account.

Upon selection, the youth area editors will develop work plans based on their responsibilities. Those who demonstrate outstanding performance during their tenure will have priority to being promoted to the position of associate editor.
