Sustainable fuels and chemicals production with low carbon footprint have gained substantial academic and industrial interests in recent years, emerging as a crucial strategy for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing green chemical industries. This special issue is dedicated to the research on synthesising sustainable fuels and chemicals through the conversion of carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2). This includes the hydrogenation of CO2 using green hydrogen, the valorisation of biomass-derived syngas for producing oxygenates, hydrocarbons, and fine chemicals, as well as the investigation of novel reaction pathways.

By meticulous catalyst design and process optimization, high conversions and selectivity for targeted products can be achieved using heat, photons and electrons as energy sources. We welcome contributions that focus on catalyst design and synthesis, the development of innovative reaction pathways and processes, and studies on reaction mechanisms and kinetics for submission to this special issue.
