The intersection of immunology and nanotechnology indeed represents a significant frontier in biomedical research and clinical applications. Nanomaterials possess unique physicochemical characteristics that enable them to interact with the immune system in ways that bulk materials cannot. Their small size, high surface area to volume ratio, and tunable surface properties allow them to evade immune detection and modulate immunological responses. The application of nanomaterials to immunology can provide a deeper understanding of how immune mechanisms work and how they can be manipulated to improve the immune response. This Special Issue highlights recent trends of nanomaterials in immune modulation, diagnostics, and therapy. Furthermore, it discusses the nanotoxicology and biocompatibility challenges associated with immunoregulatory nanomaterials, and their potential in clinical applications.
This Special Issue in Nano Biomedicine and Engineering (NBE) aims to provide a platform to showcase the recent progress and challenges in the field of immunoregulatory nanomaterials. The scope of the collection is broad, including but not limited to
We hope that readers find this Special Issue informative and useful for the rational design, construction and further clinical translation of immunoregulatory nanomaterials. This call for papers is open for the following article types:
