Blasting, a quarterly hosted by Wuhan University of Technology, started publication in 1984. Its competent unit is Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.

Blasting focuses on the high-tech in blasting field and its cutting-edge trends, with the aim of building a platform for the exchange of academic ideas and the transmission of scientific and technological information, so as to promote the development of China's blasting industry. The scope of the journal   includes the following topics: celebrity forum, theoretical and technical exp-loration, rock blasting, demolition blasting, special blasting, explosive mate-rials, safety and management, etc. The papers published in Blasting journal cover various industries including mining, water conservancy, electricity, railways, highways, construction, geology, petroleum, chemical engineering, military industry and so on. Blasting pays close attention to the major constr-uction projects and the cutting-edge theoretical research and engineering    application topics of blasting field in China. The quality assurance system   of this journal is established by the strategic guidance of the editorial comm-ittee and the strict standards of reviewing, proofreading and editing. Blasting journal and its editors, the universities and teachers, the blasting industry  and experts all complement each other so that to promote the academic exchange and guide the development of blasting industry.

Blasting has been consecutively selected into the catalogue of Chinese core periodicals (mining engineering) published by Peking University for five times. Blasting is also one of the selected journals in China Science Citation Database (CSCD), China Science and Technology Core Journals, China Core Journal Alternative Database, and China Academic Journals (CD-ROM Edition).

According to the China S&T Journal Citation Reports (Expanded edition)， the impact factor of Blasting in 2020 is 1.935, ranking the first among the domestic ordnance science and technology journals for five consecutive years. Besides, the World Journal Clout Index (WJCI) Report of Scientific and Technological Periodicals (2021) ranks Blasting 9th in the discipline of “Engineering General Technology”, which is the only Chinese journal selected in the Q1 range. At the same time, the Blue Book on China’s Scientific Journal Development (2021) shows that among the 1122 kinds of Chinese science and technology journals included in this blue book, Blasting is one of the 85 kinds of journals selected in the Q1 range, accounting for 7.58% of all the selected Chinese science and technology journals. In addition, Blasting has been awarded "Hubei Excellent Journal" for five consecutive years, and its responsible editor, Liang Zhao, has also been awarded "Hubei Excellent Editor" for four consecutive years.

In order to build Blasting into an open scientific exchange window for the international blasting industry, all the abstracts, keywords, diagrams, tables and references have been bilingual, and the abstracts have been enriched. More well-known scholars and editorial experts at home and abroad are invited into the editorial board. Moreover, a sound international academic ethics and integrity system have been established. In 2018, an English website was established, and now it can accept both Chinese and English manuscripts for submission and bilingual proofreading.

Blasting pays great attention to the cultivation of authors and readers by and has been to scientific research units and enterprises for many times to give lectures on writing scientific and technological papers. Since 2019, the seamless launch mode has been enabled on the platform of CNKI for reviewed manuscripts, which can basically make excellent achievements online within a week of acceptance and finalizing. Since same year, Blasting has pushed accurate emails to more than 40,000 authors and readers at home and abroad to provide better service.

By September 2022, Blasting has published more than 5,000 papers in 39 volumes and 165 issues, making important contributions to promoting the publication and application of scientific research achievements in the field of blasting in China. The editorial team of Blasting adheres to the purpose of striving for serving the blasting industry, readers and writers by constantly improving the journal to a higher level.
